Hello! ¡Hola amigos!

Fall has come. Honestly, it is my favorite season. The weather is not too cold or hot, leaves are multicolored, and my baggy knit sweater is so comfortable.

Today I’d like to talk about my first month of Sophomore year. For me it was like a cool challenge. (I’ve read a joke about this year: sophomore — suffer more — I like jokes based on a play on words.)

I was curious about our program and found out some details. Well, my schedule is pretty flexible in comparison to last academic year. I have several favorite subjects that inspire me to know my onions about English grammar and phonetics.

I like our topics for discussion. This month we dove into an ocean of health and medicine vocabulary. It’s important for everybody to be able to make an appointment with the doctor and tell about his/her symptoms and feelings. Our presentations about beating stress were very useful as well. Now I know some breathing techniques to kill my anxiety (thanks, Alina).

I have a bee in my bonnet about grammar. I’ve started drilling tenses step by step. I believe practice makes perfect. Fingers crossed I’m on the right track haha.

Phonetics. This is so exciting to study all details about organs of speech and try to change the position of the tongue and lips. The uvula is my favorite active organ of speech (so small and cute). Tons of classification, but it’s worth studying.

Spanish. Our Spanish teacher is very cool. I think I’m a lucky dog :) I can already tell about myself in Spanish. Also I read the translation of my favorite song «Juanes — La Camisa Negra» and I was shocked. If you like dancing to this song, don’t make my mistake… keep dancing.

What else? Well, I really like our new subject Cross-cultural communication. It’s always interesting to explore other cultures. That’s why I’m studying here :)

I think that’s all for now. Thank for reading.

Stay tuned and take care of. (Take vitamins, bundle up and smile. Remember: «The world is like a mirror; frown at it, and it frowns at you. Smile and it smiles, too».

Hasta luego.
